INTRODUCTION
KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS TRAINING CENTER is among the very few private teachers training centres which is fully equipped with a structured Montessori environment for practical work.
There is a desperate need to produce “Trained Teachers” today, specially at the early childhood education stage, who can effectively guide the pupils academically and also help them to develop critical thinking by participating in various activities.
This training is always been necessary, at all times. Since the dawn of the decade and with the increase of technological growth, it has become absolutely vital that the teachers should be fully equipped with knowledge and tools that would help them to be more effective, in imparting early childhood education.
K.G.T.T.C strongly believes that the most important period in a person’s life is from three-six years of age, where all psychological, mental and spiritual growth is taking place. As such a child requires a trained person to concentrate fully on his or her individuality during this period. With this belief, the foundation of KGTTC was laid in 1996.
Irshad Rehman started KGTTC, as there was a tremendous dearth of trained teachers to handle children of three to six years of age. With a batch of 5 students, a lot of motivation from Miss Mildred White, and wholehearted support from the Lahore Diocesan Board of education, the first batch commenced its diploma course in 1996 in Rawalpindi. Miss Anthea Rix, who was a teacher and a trainer at St. Deny’s Training College Murree, who had retired by this time, joined the LDBE Teachers Training Centre in Lahore to commence teaching classes in Lahore. The ideas of various educationists were studied, particularly those of Fredrick Froebel, John Dewey and Madam Maria Montessori and a comprehensive training course was developed to train teachers from the early childhood stage all the way through to primary education.
With over two decades of experience to its credit, KGTTC has trained hundreds of female teachers who are now usefully employed by leading educational institutions. All these teachers, who are working at various levels, ranging from early childhood stage to primary and secondary levels have completed their one-year diploma awarded by the Lahore Diocesan Board of Education.
